Description:

Based upon the novel by Max Frisch, a keystone in the portrayal of the post-holocaust modern human being, with clear allusions to Sophocles's Oedipus Rex.

Walter Faber is an United Nations engineer, a man devoted to saving the world through development of massive dams. His world-view is based on logic but probability is challenged by his falling victim to an incredible coincidence. After surviving a plane crash he decides to continue his trip by ship. On board he meets a woman who strongly reminds him of his former wife, and he begrudgingly acknowledges the attraction. Together they enbark on a journey through Europe , but little does he know what fate has in mind for him.
