Description: Soon to turn eleven Reine doesn't wish to grow up, having no positive male role models he believes puberty will make a pig out of him. His only interaction with adults is with his mother who has very limited time for her son. With her planning on being out of town while he is supposed to be at a summer camp called Children's Island, Reine decides to ditch the train and stay home alone for the summer - with dire consequences.

'The Children's Island' is a classic of Swedish cinema based upon the novel by P.C. Jersild. Anyone in tune with the groundbreaking, no-barrels-hold cinema of the 70s will know what to expect. It is a moving and at times (even by today's standards) shocking coming-of-age tale with a clinical approach to adulthood as seen through the eyes of the boy.
