Description: Six juvenile delinquents are subjected to a social experiment by the authorities, who place them in a home in the inner city of Stockholm. Krister is a naive young social worker who is assigned to observe their behaviour; he believes in the goodness of man and that everybody can change their ways. The overall supervisor and mind behind the experiment is a middle-aged man refered to as the Inspector. He represents the hypocracy of the system, and is also the one who eventually goes on to rape one of the boys.

The experiment is one of observation: the boys are free to go wherever they want and whenever they want as long as they reside in the home that was appointed to them by the authorities. As the days go by, we get to follow them into a life of cheap thrills and petty crimes. But what could have been the start of a friendship between them, soon enough escalates into anarchy and meaningless cruelty.

The title of the film is a quote from the Bible that reads -- "Then St. Peter came to Jesus and asked, 'Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?' Jesus answered, 'I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven." -- Seventy times seven being 490, this film is about the unforgivable 491th sin.

One of the most controversial movies in the history of Swedish cinema (if not THE most controversial), made during the rebelious 1960s by Vilgot Sjöman who would gain international acclaim with "I am Curious Yellow". A biting social commentary like any product of its time, based upon the equally controversial novel by Lars Görling. Strangly enough this film still remains unreleased in Sweden.

Upon its theatrical premiere two scenes had to be cut out, one involving a dog raping a girl and a scene depicting a homosexual rape. This release was recorded from the TV and is the best (if not the only) version available. Saying this I also have to mention that the picture and the sound quality are truly excellent. On the downside there are no English subtitles.
